The Worst Is Confirmed for Jude Bellingham: Real Madrid Loses Him to Injury
Bellingham to miss one month and Champions League tie against Benfica
Jude Bellingham, the English midfielder for Real Madrid, will be sidelined for around a month and will miss the Champions League round of 16 playoff tie against Benfica after suffering a muscle tear in the semitendinosus of his left leg during the LaLiga match against Rayo Vallecano.
Bellingham picked up the injury just nine minutes into the game when he felt a muscle problem in the back of his left thigh while making a run to receive a through ball from teammate Franco Mastantuono.
A few hours later, Real Madrid subjected Bellingham to an MRI scan, which confirmed the severity of the muscle injury.
“Following tests carried out today on our player Jude Bellingham by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left leg. His recovery will be assessed over time,” the club said in its official medical report.
As a result, Bellingham will miss LaLiga matches against Valencia, Real Sociedad, Osasuna and Getafe, as well as the Champions League tie against Benfica.
The England international joins a Real Madrid injury list that had been easing with the recent returns of Antonio Rüdiger, Ferland Mendy and Trent Alexander-Arnold, while Éder Militão is still expected to be sidelined for another two months due to a muscle injury.
